hi guys
someone replaced 242J to 231J without any modifications?
I'm asking because I read a lot of opinions about it.
Some say that it is necessary to change the lengths of the drive shafts or maybe change input on the T.CASE
some say it will fit directly, "PLUG AND PLAY"
so anyone did it and can answer?

I took a 242 out of an '03 and put an '04 231 in. (Both auto.) Tcase shifter is different. Sold the '03 KJ promptly. I had both KJs so i wasn't chasing parts. I think it was all the same otherwise.

Edit: the 242 is now in the '05 6spd KJ. Either driveshaft works. I used the auto driveshaft because the slip yoke boot fit better that way.

I've now got a possible donor to put a 242 in place of my 241. the tape measure will be heavily used soon enough.
that and a hunt for a teraflex 2LO kit for it.
