2524 miles...

Well, just completed a 2,524 mile 2 week trip in my 2004 KJ that had 211K miles on her before the trip. One failure - I had to replace one of the ignition coils that failed halfway into the trip. Other than that, it was a great trip in the old girl!

The Jeep KJ's keep on going!

I trust my 2004 Jeep w/ +200k more then my 2010 Toyota with less then 100k - that damn scion is nothing but problems for me and both maintained very well.

It' good to keep some spares onboard. Extra belt, coil packs, tensioner assembly, jumper cables, & tools. Spare oil etc in container.
I throw spares under rear seats.
It can also help another KJ if it's broken down somewhere along the way.

I have a whole parts store hidden in every nook and crany on mine
Helped lots of KJ owner's, and felt safe that I had whatever I needed on a trip

This could be a thread all on it's own. I'm getting ready to drive a new to me 150K 03, Nevada to Florida. What would be the most important things to have.

belt
tensioner with pulleys
oil,
transmission fluid
HOAT coolant
just general things, just in case
have ran across many who if they had one simple item with them on a trip would not find themselves stuck alongside the road at 2 in the morning

I've actually done that , well almost!!
They were dragging it down the road, trying to get it home, stopped them and pulled off parts I wanted
paid them next to nothing for the parts and kept going on vacation

Miles traveled: 2524
Gallons of fuel: 128.221
MPG average for trip (city & highway driving): 19.7 MPG (this coincided with the MPG estimate shown on my overhead console display)
Average gas price for whole trip: $2.79 per gallon (4/13-4/26) (SC, NC, WV, PA, NY, MA, DE, MD gas stops)

That average is pretty good.
I wish we had your gas prices. At over $6.50 per gallon, I better start looking at a scooter that gets 100mpg.
