Alot of people want to do this but its not very cost effective at all.

Off the top of my head, some parts you need:
-Tail of ******
-tcase
-front axle+cv's
-front drive shaft
-rear drive shaft
-Shifter

So much cheaper to get a Liberty that already has 4x4 then swapping one in. Even if you do go SAS....solid axle swap...

Ok now you got me confused...SAS...SFA....

Probably the same thing only I called it stiff instead of solid, sorry.
Yeah Tony, it's the same thing. The important thing is that the conversion from 2WD to 4WD is money and labor intensive. A cheaper solution would be to put a locker in the rear and just go see what you can do - you might be surprised :) Oh and make sure you get some armor under there, lots of tender belly pans just waiting for that *one* rock

yeah i think a locker is the best bet for now. maybe in a year or so i'll trade it in for someting better. i was looking at the setup between the two and if it had a frame then yes it would be easy but these unibodys are to scary even for my crazy self

Actually Jeep calls it a 'uni-frame' but the frame part doesn't help so much when you can't remove the body from it  If it had an actual frame then lifts would be sooooo much easier.

Yea, a Jeep with a locker is decent offroad but you still lack 4low. I use 4low almost anytime Im offroad and i couldnt imagine not having it. Talk about a cooked ******!

X2
and you will not be allowed to most organized off road events with only 2wd
but the big thing will be the ****** they are not happy with 4wd low so with out the low range I would stay on the road

just trade it for a 4wd if you want to go off road any thing else is a waste of time
