300K is how do I say it ? Fantastic!
One thing for sure is... that motor must have had frequent oil changes !
Of course I have to ask beside the basic water pump or accessories, did you have any valve work done?
How about transmission rebuilds?

well... didnt follow the reco'd oil changes(or other things). it was more like every 5k to 10k. 5w30, valvoline max life. now im burning 1 quart of oil every 1000 or so miles so it practically changes itself!
i have a whole list on my phone of what ive done but heres high level:
- on 4th water pump
- 2nd radiator
- valve gasket had to be replaced on the passenger side.
- replaced transmission at 168k. nused had 40k for a new total of 172k miles.
- replaced transfer case at 226k. nused had 50k for a new total of 124k miles.
- spark plugs and coils... i know the plugs were changed at least once... pb blaster and/or equivalent okay to use on spark plugs?

Wow, I've been driving for well over 40 years and doubt I put 300k on all the vehicles I have ever owned combined! That is quite a milestone on a gas powered vehicle. Now I don't feel so bad just purchasing one with 99k on it as the original owner had the oil changed every 3000 by the dealer. Should have a LOT more life in her.

I'd say try to get the plugs off without PB blaster first. Don't want stuff dripping into anywhere down there. Mine were not a problem except for the fact they were well loved. Also try to blow out everything before you get them out.

At the rate I'm driving, its going to take me about another 25 years to get to 300k. I'm within 200 miles of 99k for an 03.

thanks. i ll try cold and dry and see what happens. i had picked up the yellow can of liquid wrench for my lbj. liquid wrench says it okay on spark plugs. my concern is what will the drips full of corroded brown do to the cylinder other then make smoke. maybe spray, sit, wipe, remove/break... if the plug breaks my back up is a #5 extractor and shop vac per readings found on the interwebs.

Nice! It's gonna take me a long time at my current rate to get there. I'm an 06 and I just hit 60K. My current work kinda helps with the low mileage.

I looked at an '04 yesterday that was still in the mid-50K range. If a certain person gets hold of it I would expect that to increase rapidly from here on out. :icon_lol:
