4WD Conversion

Suppose one wanted to convert a 2WD 3.7 KJ into a 4WD KJ, what would it take? What parts would be necessary (and their cost)? What would the installation process be?

technically you will need a transfer case, front shaft, front differential, shifter inside, ,its linkages, related electronics, transmission computer.

Don't forget the rear drive shaft also, I believe they are different. My dad and I converted mine. The longest part of the process was waiting for the money to be saved to rebuild the donor transmission.

It's not a difficult process, you take apart the front end and just put in the different components, no cutting needed. We could have done it in one day (half doing the transmission, half the front end), but we split it into two.

i've got a 4x4 that i'm parting out here in NC. may have all you need if you want to come get it for a decent price.

What kind of cost would all the parts be (assuming they were bought used) to do the conversion?

From a junkyard, we got everything for a tad over $500. (There was a $99 ****** sale going on). That also includes the engine harness to wire in the 4wd lights. However, my Full-Time light does not light up (the transfer case works though). I believe people on here said it may be one of the computers or the dash cluster.

Still considering this route, but assuming I didn't go this route, my next option would be something extra in the rear end.

Powertrax No-Slip or Detroit Tru-Trac, and why? Pros/Cons? Similarities/Differences?
