I want to see a video of that guy reinstalling the pan. Sure you maybe able to reach in and unbolt the oil pump and pickup, but lets see him hold everything in place , start the bolts back up in without dropping at least one of them.

I had little bubbles of rust starting in the paint/metal. Sanded where those were and scuffed the rest of the paint. Then i brushed 2 coats of an oil based metal paint on. The 06 has been done for 4 years and is holding up well.

I live in the "rust belt" otherwise known as Canada.
I was disappointed when I discovered my oil pan was rusting out and leaking a couple of years ago.
And I was also disappointed when I picked up my new Mopar oil pan. It was made of flimsy thin metal.

My KJ is an 04 and I think the oil pan finally blew out in 2013.
I considered replacing it myself but realized the job was beyond my abilities.
So I took it to my local garage and had them do it at a cost of $600.

They had to lift the engine and drop the axle to get the old one out and the new one in.

Now I'm planning to cover my new oil pan in grease and oil to keep it from rusting out again.

Yup, oil pan tumour.

The rocker panels beneath the doors have rotted out too and needed replacement and the bottom edge of the doors are showing signs of rust.

And all of this rust on a Jeep that isn't my daily driver, only my weekend ride.
Imagine that?

Ya I know you get some real bad winters there and road crews that use salt like it spring is never coming. No wonder your pan was infected.
I know it is also difficult to wash when it's always subzero outside.
If it was only your weekend driver, and you were out in salt, did u power wash often enough through the winter around the rockers/door areas?
I wonder what your daily driver must look like ..afraid to ask...

The oil pan on a Liberty is hidden up above the engine skid plate to its easy to miss, difficult to clean even in the summer.

Seriously though the oil pan on a 2004 vehicle shouldn't rust out.
I have a 1995 YJ with an oil pan still in great shape. It's the quality of the Liberty's oil pan construction. It's thin.
