I have 2003 jeep liberty in need of a new ac compressor. I bought a kit from rock auto containing the a/c compressor accumulator and orffice tube line. I have noticed the take on the rad support says the system requires 8 oz of sp-15 refrigeration oil. because I'm changing the accumulator as well as the compressor can I had all 8 oz to the system or do I have to try nd drain the old compressor an accumulator and figure out how much oil to put in?

I'd do one of two things... either the second way that you mentioned... or put it all together, and when you have the system professionally vacuumed and evac'd, you'll know there is nothing in it.

Usually there is oil that is added directly into the compressor prior to install... not sure if this is the same, or if this oil is in addition to what goes into the compressor.

... guess that's why the AC guys get paid the big bucks.

Good luck.
