Question: Where the hell do you get a new Jerry can? I can't find them anywhere except online (thanks, California!) and nobody ships here. Any stores in NV carry them?

Swap meet. $16 for the can and spout. I used to see the spouts at Fleet Farm for $15 by themselves. Check local swap meets, military shows, gun shows ect. I have seen them in military surplus stores here in MN as well. Although they are usually overpriced.

any more Swap meet ones are over priced/ rusted out/ beat up and worth less
I get mine from Deutsche Optik , ( located in Nevada) brand new NATO 20 Litre Jerry cans
They even sell new spouts and can gaskets
can see the "can" here

Yes. Make sure you check them for rust/contamination before purchasing. If you don't have the cash to buy from Deutsche.

Well since I can't drive to VA to pick them up from Harbor Freight, it looks like my options are:

1.) Ebay
2.) Swap Meet
3.) Deutche - probably going this route.

I like that hitchcan, BTW.

After about 3 months of looking everywhere
thats the route I went ( Deutche) and so glad I did.
I have a Harbor Freight a few miles away
looked at theirs for about 30 seconds,
all the time I needed to know which way to go

What did we do?kopkrab.gif

I think California started with the law that you can't get an open spout gas can without those "dribbler spouts" and now other states are doing it? (or something like that...?) I think that is what he was referring to?

Does that mean the jerry cans I am looking at in ORW's store have a dribble spout

Dribble spouts are absolutely worthless. Stock up on old cans cause they aren't sellin them anymore.

Yes, not to mention it takes about 15 minutes to empty a 5 gallon Jerry can with the dribble spout.

I found some good metal cans at Harbor Freight. I got home and discovered that they have no cap other than the spout! WTF? Other than that, the cans are great and exactly what I was looking for, so I rigged my own cap for them with a large metal washer and some gasket material. That and a good siphon is all I need. The dribble spouts are gone.
