A guest was leaving yesterday in her minivan and cut too close on her exit. She ended up with one rear wheel in the roadside ditch out front. Our ditches are about 30" deep out here in the country so needless to say, her van was bottomed out.
After a couple minutes of trying to think of ways to push her out by hand, I figured, what the heck... our little KJ has new General Grabbers and handles well on these crappy New York roads.
I grabbed a tow chain, put the KJ on the icy, snow covered country road, and hooked both vehicles in unmentionable places. I put it in 4-Hi and told the lady to just put her van in neutral. After a couple light tugs and only got a wiggle, I told her to drive forward cautiously. Out she came with almost no effort.
I truly feel that with just a little more weight on the Jeep, I would have pulled her out in neutral.
Maybe it's time to install some recovery hooks and buy a tow strap. Who knows how many countless others will need my assistance
Too bad I didn't think of snapping a pic
