FWIW, in case anyone wants to know for the future - 5/16-18 (coarse) thread.
Reason I wanted to know? -CB install on the stock mount aka Gris and Tokyo Joe method.
Also FWIW, a 3/8-24 minor (root) diameter is close enough to a 5/16-18 major (crest of thread) diameter. This means you CAN take a CB spring, turn it down on a lathe, and cut new threads. Is it perfect? No. Will it work without you having any issues? Yes.
Consequently, you can also use a Firestik spring, cut the stud end off, and tap and thread it. There's a good 1/2"-5/8" thickness of metal. Use a stud, or cut off a stainless steel bolt so there is no head (to use as a stud) and you can mount the spring.
No need to drill out the stock mount. I did this. Unfortunately, I am an idiot and wasn't paying attention and tapped a 3/8-24 back into it (DOH!). So, round two should commence this week on a new spring.
I'll make a new post about this when I actually do it. Going to try and turn down the threads once more. If that doesn't work, I'll be cutting and tapping it again, hopefully this time with the correct thread size!!!!
