Anybody matched window tint?

Darker than I would have guessed but good to know!! I guess cops in NY keep censor tools in their cars that they put inside the window and it measures how much light is coming through. Scary stuff in terms of tickets. But it always makes me wonder if the sun being out makes a difference. It must, right?

There are SO many more important things to worry about than window tint. You can't do anything anymore without someone telling you it's WRONG. Just another excuse for making money, off trivial ********.

Llumar 15%. Matches extremely well. Looking from the inside out, you can tell a slight difference. Looking from the outside in, you can't.

So, 15% is something I should shoot for?
Sounds good, I'll go out in the morning and see if I can
find some 15% window tint film and give it a shot!
I'll try it on the windows whilst they are still in
the door, I don't really mind if I have a ⅜ inch or less
un-tinted perimeter of glass.
I watch that "Unique Whips" show on Speed Chanel and
watch those so called "Professionals" tint windows like
that on Lambo's and Ferrari's and the like all the time and
the window film seems to hold up pretty good!

an untinted perimiter would look terrible and youl kick your self everyday that you have it

Thanks. I had it on my MKIV Jetta before I sold it. I had so many compliments on it then that I had to put it on the Jeep even though it wasn't German.

Yeah, I agree as well, but most of the shops that tint windows here tint them in the door only. Removing the windows would be the proper way to tint them, but when they are fully rolled up, you wouldn't see the un tinted part of the glass anyway. It would only be visible when the windows are partially rolled down.

I watched them do mine, and they didn't remove the window. There is a small, and I mean SMALL strip of untined glass, barely noticable with the windows partially down.

That's what I mean!
It is usually the part of the window glass that tucks into the rubber window moulding in the door frame.
I just have not bothered looking in the KJ FSM to see how to disconnect the power window mechanism and remove the rubber squeegee at the bottom of the window in the door frame and the glass itself!

So what if you stared at the bottom with window rolled up then roll it down a little bit to finish the top?

No, they never move the window during installation. It is always rolled up completely. When they spray it with lubricant (or water) the tint slides into place. Basically they cut size and cut it to exact fit on top and leave maybe 1/4" extra tint on the bottom, they start at top slide the longer part it into the door and then start pulling it towards top. They squeegee the lubricant out. You don't roll your windows for 48 hours, it cures.

How much did that cost to have them done?

As far as the bubbles... I popped mine with a pin and then used a squeegee to work the air out. (But that was on my other car.)
