Anyone know how the center console attaches?

Dealer had to replace my ****** shifter yesterday. To do that, they removed the entire center console assembly. Well, they didn't put it back in nice and snug, so now there is a gap between the console and the carpet. I tried pushing down on the console figuring it might snap into place but it didn't. Do these consoles mount with push-in pins, or are there screws in there?? I know it's nitpicky...but I want my console to fit into place exactly like it was when I bought it.

Make them fix it. Let them know that you do pay attention to the details, even thought not everyone does. I would make it very clear what you exect and that it fit fine before the replaement of the shifter.

BTW-That's why you have a warranty and what they get paid for.

I agree with DougBenn If they are paid to fix something they are also paid to satisfy the customer, and customer satsifaction passed trough the respect of his vehicle, [-( [-( You should expect them to put it back as it was before entering in the workshop [-X [-X [-X

Yeah I know that's an option. But I really don't care to have them messing with my KJ anymore than they already have. I could probably fix it myself in 5 minutes if I just knew how it attaches.

Found the problem. Dealer broke the mount that's under the t-case shifter. That's why the console is all jacked up and sits odd. Looks like I'm going back to the dealer for a new console today.

lol, thats exactly what i would do. I keep my jeep as far from them as long as possible, but you need to get a new console if they broke it.

Glad you found the problem, sorry it's not an easy fix though. Hope your dealings with the dealership go ok.

I am lucky in that fact a close friend of mine is a parts manager at my dealership, He always checks on my stuff if it's in the shop. I also have some access to the shop others don't get, those guys never know when we might be watching them. I think it helps.

Well the console is listed as a $150.00 part. Dealership has me one on order. They didn't give me too much fuss. Didn't act happy about it...but at least they didn't give me a hard time. Hey, it's not like I'm trying to get something extra out of them. I just want my Jeep back the way it was when I dropped $26K for it last summer, you know? Looks like I'll be getting the new console next week.
