hmm....well...that was...interesting...not having done it myself on dry pavement i can't really be one to comment, but i guess maybe i'll give it a shot myself and see if i can't get a video of it, I should be picking up an LSD soon too, so hopefully that will get me into two-wheel burnouts...Let's see if i can't show you up jfortier...i'll tell you what...let's turn this thread into an online burnout contest...KJs only \:D/

By all means. I promote it!

However I will not be competing anymore, my tires are too expensive and I can afford to waste any more rubber. LOL ](*,)

So consider my last post as the first official entry of the contest.

Ratings will be based on the amount of smoke created and NOT the amount of spin.

Keep in mind that burning rubber is intentional, spinning on wet pavement is just you losing control.

Ratings will be on a 1-10 scale.

I'll start by saying I give myself a 5

Next time, mix the soap with water, it's actually slicker when mixed. \:D/

lol, I am aware, but I only wanted to lose enough to get the initial spin. I was afraid adding water would just cause mindless spin.

Thanks for the torque converter info. I am always eager to understand more about how my vehicle opperates.

Well, when i said i did that on damp roads, i meant i did do it on purpose, with the brake applied...trust me, this was no mistake...and it was damn fun...so fun i did it twice, but i didn't want to cause un-even wear, so i'm gonna wait until i can get my LSD intsalled to do my next run...

If I had a decent digital video camera, I'd post a video of my jeep doing that. Since I can't see it (while driving), I can't for certain tell you that both rear wheels are spinning, but it certainly feels like it, because when it's happening the jeep starts fishtailing pretty good and feels sorta bumpy as the tires start to catch at random points. (I have the LSD in the rear) Haven't tried doing that with the brake, that's just with a lot of gas and a fast clutch drop.

I noticed that SavageSS27's jeep is a 2003 and mine+jfortier777 is a 2004 and 2005. Maybe in 2004 they started somekind of crap to where you couldnt get over 2k rpms with the jeep not moving?

That's my guess, but i wasn't looking at the tach at the time, so i couldn't tell you if i was over 2k or not...

Se7enLC...What RPM did you launch at?

Do you think it would be safe to neutral drop the auto? Say rev it to 2500 or so and throw it in "D"?

Not very much, probably somewhere around 3 or so I would guess, maybe as high as 4. To put it in perspective, my typical shift points are 2 and 3 (so when I hit 3000 I go to the next gear unless I need to burn a ricer on the line, in which case I wait til 3500 or 4. Redline is like 6 or 7, I think, I never go above 4500 or so). I didn't really keep the vehicle still, so it wasn't a launch, it was just tires-moving-faster-than-jeep and backend-swinging-around-because-tires-are-spinning. I suppose I could probably keep it still for awhile if I feathered it just right (or cheated and used the eBrake).

The KJ has a lot of go-juice in a 6speed, and it's geared REALLY low (I almost never use 1st gear). So as you can imagine, if I can take off from a stop in second with no problem, if I do it in first, and with extra gas pedal, stock tires just scream.

NOOOOOOOO

My 2.8L diesel 6speed is a rocket! Problem is the gearstick is a bit too big and clunky for quick gearchanges...

Burning rubber - easy, and I love playing other motorist on dual carrigeways by staying on the inner lane accelerating slowly until they think the KJ is a slow bugger, try to overtake it, then i floor it...

Childish - but my KJ's like a giant manual golf buggy!!!

Your gearshift is clunky, because you drive a truck!

I'm going to the courthouse tomorrow to change my name to Ken. O:)

WOW! I felt awesome today.

I was messin around with a friend of mine who was driving next to me and I was playing around pretending like I wanted to race him since we were both at the front spots at the light. So I put my foot on the brake and smacked the gas in a hopeless attempt to show off a little bit and I spun my tire (mono burnout for the lose) on dry pavement.

After all I went through to get them to slip before I was amazed that they broke free just like that; and on demand too.

LOL, so yeah. Woot

I give gearchanges my best try, and sometimes i race through them, and sometimes i bring up the clutch a bit too early because it takes so long, and i'm stuck for gears...

Good man - may there be a world full of kens!
