Hi all! I've been having an issue with my 2003 Jeep Liberty. For months my step-dad and I cannot figure out as to what is causing a rattling/clinging sound coming from the front driver side wheel/break area. It has always had a slight rattling noise for about 3 years now, but has gotten louder over the years. Last summer the entire breaking system was replaced. My step-dad replaced the caliper about a month ago and it's Still making an awful noise. Here's how it will start off: when I start my jeep and take off it's quiet but it does make a slight noise. The more my jeep runs and warms up- the louder the noise gets. The only thing we're coming up with is the rotor could have gotten warped which is why it's still making the noise. Any mechanics might know what else it could be?

At what speeds or all speeds
Are you sure its the left front??
If so then more than likely the rear CV on the front driveshaft, easy/ cheap/ quick repair ( Driveshaft & CV Joint Components )
If from right front I would be more than likely looking at the CV/ Intermediate shaft, replace both if thats it, NAPA rebuilts work great

We're absolutely positive it's front driver side. It makes a noise at all speeds. Once I have been running it for 10 minutes and is warmed up, the noise is absolutely terrible and loud between take off spends up until around 40mph, after that it's not as obnoxious or ear cringing. I had a mechanic look at it and explained exactly this, but all he did was take the wheel off and looked at the brake. He wasn't much help.

As Tom said. Check the rear CV on the front driveshaft. If there is any cracks/holes in the boot then a replacement is needed. Might as well do front and rear CVs while you have it out since it is driving you mad.

When my dad replaced the caliper, he took a look at the boot and said he didn't see any cracks or holes in it, but that doesn't mean it's not going bad. Thank you guys for the information! If anything else comes to mind, let me know!

just a fyi it could be a wheel hub or it could be your power steering pump and the noise could be traveling. sounds do and will travel had a truck one time had a noise I thought it was the wheel hub changed it out with a new one still had the noise after sometime and persistence I found it it it was a rear u joint and the sound was traveling up the drive line
