So here's a Tim Taylor moment. Doing my own glow plugs. I leave my torque wrench suspended against the råd hose overnight. The bolt* ended up breaking when the belt was set and I was finally done, glow plug upgrade a sucess....but yeah. *.* Pops extracted it...the new bolt...idk how, didnt stay, somehow stripped the mounting bracket( ⁴belt tensioner pulley). Now we gotta Redneck pc7 the bolt. But my dad said to heat and grease the bolt so the B.T.Pulley can be replaced. Sounds sketch-right ? . Idk wtf 2 do. Gotta do something....
This stupid part goes out all the time. Is there a reliable one that lasts ~5+ years ffs?? If I do this there may be no turning back ya dig?

I read both posts - not much experience from me on CRD jeeps, but …
It *now* sounds like you stripped the bolt that holds the pulley to the tensioner bracket.

Why not pull the tensioner out of the jeep and see if you can repair the mounting hole with a threaded insert ? They used to be called Heli-Coil and basically, you drill the damaged thread out to a very specific diameter, run a special thread tap into the fresh hole and then fix a threaded insert in there with a bit of Loc-tite to hold the insert forevermore. If it is breaking every few years, perhaps the belt is a little small and running tight and causing the issue. As I said, I am not a CRD guy. Never met one, but Perhaps one of the CRD folks will stop by.

Which one is stripped? Engine or pulley??
They are both originally M10 conventional right hand thread.
Be careful with the 2 idler pulleys they left hand thread.

Not had an issue with springs, the bearings go but VW use the same pully so don't pay silly money for a special Jeep one. The one in the picture above is my spare, awaiting a new pully or a fresh bearing if it comes apart easily, it's done 130,000 miles but the spring still feels OK.
Is yours broken then?
