Does anyone know of painted, black side moldings? I drive a LTD and I hate all the cheezy chrome, I know sanding and painting is an option, but I'd rather not go that route. Any help would be appreciated. OH, and I also do not like the plastic ones, so that wouldn't be an option. Thanks

What kind of Cheese is your chrome :p I didn't see that option when I bought mine.

I really don't know of any other options to your issue. I've seen only the grey plastic molding and chrome molding. Unless you do something custom you got nothing else I know of.

I've seen black plastic moldings on some of the Renegade models, so they do exist. Any of the sport models have them. They're not painted or clearcoated or anything though, they're just the plastic like on the flares and bumpers of the sport models. Maybe call a dealer and get one OEM?

Didn't the 02-04 Limiteds come wih body color moldings??? Maybe you could find a way to fit those. If that wouldn't work, I think your only option is to paint one.

Yea the 02-04 models do. If the doors are the same design between the 02-04 and 05-07 years then that might work.

The moldings are swappable.

The moldings that are being spoken of here aren't really black... more along the lines of dark gray.

Go to a sign shop and buy some 7 year 3M vinyl sing lettering material in Gloss black, Matt black, or Black chrome. When you have the colour you want, remove the factory trim, clean with glass cleaner and dry. Now spray soapy water on trim and apply the vinyl material. Burnish with a damp sponge and work out all air bubbles.(The same way window tint is applied) wrap at least 3/8 of an inch around the back of the trim. (Tip: use a hair drier or heat gun to soften the vinyl material so it conforms to the curves of the trim) Once done you will have black trim for a fraction of the cost of buying new trim and you will have a durable finish.

I'd like to replace my body side moldings with the flat kind from the 2005 and up models. Anybody know where I can find a complete kit for a decent price?

I would, but there's holes where the moldings go. If you look at the How To on removing side moldings, you can see holes where the clips enter the body. Otherwise, I'd do exactly that.

Well then, buy some factory mounting clips at your local Chrysler/Jeep Dealership or other automotive parts shop! Then after you re-finish the body side moldings, install the new mounting clips into/onto the moldings and pop the re-finished moldings back onto the KJ's body work.
Not rocket science!
Just straight forward refurbish/ re-finish and re-install and admire your handy work!
Really just that simple!
