Brake bleeding

Just replaced a front metal line on a customers 02 KJ over the weekend
Installed new line, opened bleeder, filled MC first of course , and it gravity bled itself while I sat and drank a cold bottle of diet Dew . Tightened bleeder and good full pedal

Only time I've run the engine when bleeding brakes was on an '89 Jaguar XJ40. IIRC, procedure was bleed fronts normally but the backs you open the bleed screws, start the engine & it bleeds itself. 1st experience of ABS so knew no better - but didn't work. Had another 2 after that one & always bled them same as everything else from a mid-fifties Ford to a 2005 Citroen (& a pretty mixed bag in between). Apart from early onset paranoia about shearing off bleed screws, never had a problem & always good results.

I use a Motive Power Bleeder, similar to the Sealy VS820 recommended earlier.

I've had some sort of one man bleed kit - spat fluid all over the firewall: useless!

1st time I came to bleed brakes with no assistant I remember thinking it'd be interesting. In fact what I learned was I'd never needed an assistant all those years, although it does save pumping pedal, jumping out, checking for bubbles, nipping up bleed screw, hopping back in, repeat 'til got a good pedal. No big deal really.

Speed Bleeders by Russell. I bleed my brakes just for fun now, since it's so easy. lol

Bleeding brakes was never difficult but definitely not fun for me - still paranoid about shearing a bleed screw after all these years (& I've done loads since with no drama)

My Liberty gravity bled good enough when I replaced the hose going to the passenger side caliper
