Broke Rear Ball Stud Mount Bracket

My son wrecked my 2002 KJ and broke the rear ball stud mount bracket on the rear axle for the rear upper control arm. Part number 586AA95020 stamped on it. I can't seem to locate a used or new one.
Anybody have ideas?

Get one from a salvage yard.

Salvage is your best hope. I broke 1 about 2 years back. If you CAN FIND a new one, expect about 500 bucks from dealer. There were 8 in the US at that point.

Went to the yards nearby and they let me look thru. I found 2 that still had the rear setup and was lucky enough to get it removed a few days later when the guy had time to extract it from the yard and get it into the shop.

Other alternative is to to that upgraded UCA that is an a recent thread. Gets you a new UCA and mount for about 400.

I do still have the original one in fine shape if interested. I would venture a guess that if the mount broke there's a good chance the upper control arm is needing replaced also. I have both items in my garage, as I just put on the IRO (see link a few posts above). Unless you're in reasonable driving distance you're probably better of going to a salvage yard. I will say, the IRO is very nice.

I'm in Cincinnati area. I'll check and few yards tomorrow and the IRO tonight. I was hoping Tom Mudd may have one, but I think he lives at the other end of the State.

Other side of the state is a lot closer than I am. A local yard is probably your best bet.

I had forgot how difficult it can be to deal with a salvage yard. Best offer so far is to buy a complete rear axle for $350. I can buy the complete IRO setup for a little more. There is a U-Pull in Kentucky that may be my next destination.

Good Grief! You must be going to the classy yards! Mine around here will let ya take a walk thru the yard to see if you can find any likely donors. It’d be kinda hard to get the ball stud mount off yourself in most cases. My 2 locals just are cool and i have the run of the yard. Only problem is the one yard has a bull wandering around too. I kind of avoid him.

Tom, sounds like a once in a life time trip! I went ahead and bought the Iron Rock upgrade and installed it in the rain last night. It sure makes some terrible noises in the rear now! At least I can get it to the lift now and see what else happened after my son wrecked it. Thanks for the reply!

Not once in a Lifetime , been there 6 times now, this was shortest trip
all others were for a month at a time
Wife is from there , so have family, friends plus just love the people, areas, and FOOD!!

I have the IRO complete rear setup in my 02 Sport and am so glad to be done with changing the rear upper control arm every 8-10 months. Mine started make a clunking noise after about 6 months and it turns out the jam nut on the threaded link that goes to the top of the rear axle had loosened. I backed the nut off a couple of threads and I put some blue thread lock on and tightened it back up. Shazam ! Fixed the problem. Make sure the pinion angle is correct. You will need an angle finder or take it to a good alignment shop to get it set. That could be the source of your noise too.
