With my suspension now sorted out, I've secured myself a set of 15x10.5 with 31's mounted. Test fitted the front and they look great! But rub the front bumper, inner fender wells and the pinch weld. I know I'll need to hammer my pinch weld in, but if I trim the bottom of my bumper as well to remove the "excess plastic" as I've seen some people here state, will that affect my bumper mounting properly? I know theres 3 screws that screw into the air dam at the bottom of the bumper. If I cut that section off, will it affect how my bumper mounts? Will I need to secure the bumper on the bottom side?

I ripped that section off on the trail years ago lol.

Yeah, my bumper is a little looser for it, but it still stayed on.

You can get really fancy with the fender well liners and reshape them with a heat gun. You can even use an old putty knife with the heat to weld the plastic too.

The great looking hack-the-bumper mods that are done are the only reason I only kinda sorta wish I did not have pristine body colored bumpers with factory driving lamps... more like the Wranglers with the higher cut fender flare to bumper transition.. which if I did more trails and offroad would make sense..

As it is, I can't bring myself to remove my factory aux lamps and chop up a 3 year old bumper cover. Yet. Guess I just budget for an ARB and go that route, eh?!

I told my wife I wanted to trim the bumper, and she said, "I don't think you should cut up a perfectly good bumper." So I waited a week then cut it off and stuffed the trimmings in the corner of the garage. That was about 2 years ago and she hasn't noticed.

The bumper will be somewhat loose,
BIGGEST issue is the width of your wheels and I'm sure the backspacing
with the right width and backspacing very little if any would need to be trimmed
But with the wheels you have it will take more than the normal amount of trimming to make them work

update.................just a side note, I'm at 2.5 inches of full spring lift, 8 inch wheels with 5 inches of backspacing and 31s and get some rub even with trimming, so my remark about your wheels, no matter what you are going to have issues , just plain common sense type of a thing. With that wide of a wheel even if you did have 5 inches of backspacing the arc in which the wheel turns in front is way greater causing more issues .
