I would have to disagree with you on that.I have run 3 sets of MT/R's on 2 Jeeps with over a 100,000 miles and they have never failed me once.Granted they are not really good on ice but no tire is(don't care what anybody say's,rubber and ice does not = traction in any way).Never hydroplaned going through water at high speed, cornered the same in the rain as in the sunshine. And the key with making MT/R's work really well in the mud is some wheel speed, get them tires a spinning to clean them out and they'll dig to china. All MT tires need some wheel spin to self clean, the MT/R's are no different. And yes they do awesome in the mud, much better then the BFG AT's and MT's.The only 2 better tires in the mud that I have run have been Interco's Boggers and the Trxus MT's.

Agreed. I did neglect to say that a lot of it has to do with driving style. I've seen many people drive Jeeps with MT's and MT/R's like a ferrari, and they complain about tire wear, poor traction in adverse road conditions...etc etc.

Personally, unless you're doing a lot of muddin/rock crawling, you can't go wrong with a good A/T. However, if you like the loudness and looks (which I do), go for an MT or MT/R. It's just for me, it wouldnt be practical, as I do almost 100 highway miles a day easily.

I'm just worried about when I get into like 12" of mud. Theres a few places I go deer hunting where it can get pretty muddy, I just cant wait till I can try it out, heh:)

Do your general grabbers work well for you? Im considering buying them as they are half the price of the BFG's I"m looking at. But I hear the BFG's work better in the mud/sand.

The General AT2 tires work very well, as good as the BFGs. Check out the September issue of "Four Wheeler" magazine's review of them and other tires. They were a staff favorite. The other Tire that looked impressive to me was the Cooper STT. It works well in mud, rocks and snow. The General is however an AT and will not work as well in sticky mud as the clogs will get bogged with mud and they become slicks. If you want a tire for mudding go with a good mud tire that will 'self clean' with wheel spin. Looking at the design of the Cooper STT's I would say they would probably do better in mud at self cleaning than the General's and the testers said the onroad ride is surprisingly good for a tire so aggressive.
