This is something I can’t really figure out. I have a cheap 3’ magnetic mount CB antenna. It seems to work fine for what I use a CB for.
Looking at it though, it doesn’t look like anything special – just a straight steel rod.
I’m curious – what’s the difference between something like this and a stock radio antenna? I understand something like a firestick is more advanced, where you can tune the antenna to be the correct length via the adjuster screw tip. But for an el cheapo unit like I have, what’s the difference between the KJ’s antenna and this thing? Is it set to an exact length or something that should work decently (not optimally) with all CB radios? What would happen, theoretically, if a stock AM/FM antenna was attached to the CB? I understand the connectors are different, but would it work? Would the CB fry or something?
