You'll need a special scanner to read the codes...it would be worth to go to a transmission shop and pay the $100 or so to get a complete diagnosis. They'll read CVI (clutch value indexes) which will tell you how much life is left in the major components.

My dealer was completely incompetent. Took them 4 days for them to say they had no idea. The shop had it diagnosed in a half day and was way more thorough than the dealer.

Any ideas on how to find a good place to take the Jeep to for diagnosis?

We are in ILLinois zip code 60927

There should be tons of places in the Chicago area. PM CactusJacked or yellocoyote, they both recommended places for me to take mine if I had decided to bring there from Wisconsin. Or just do a google search and read reviews.

Responded back. Yeah, PO700 just means there are more code(s) stored in the TCM. Have you checked your battery voltage with a meter, both at rest and with engine running? Low voltage can sometimes make the TCM/PCM go haywire. Checking battery/charging system integrity is a good and cheap place to start.

I have not checked the battery yet. It is on my to do list. Along with a couple other items.

I have also been planning to redo the battery cables and get rid of the cheesy OEM battery cable ends.

We just recently had the ASD fuse blow - that was a rubbed wire by the alternator bracket. I wonder if in all the jerking and pulling of wiring, looking for that, if something else didn't become maladjusted.

Any thoughts on that?

Did the shorted wire and the PO700 happen at the same time? If not, then I think it's a coincidence. See how the voltage test goes.

The ASD and PO700 happened one after the other.

The P0700 happened within 200 miles of the ASD - Auto Shut Down fuse blowing and being repaired. Was it just a coincidence? Or much more than that?

I was thinking maybe something got ****** lose or a plug got pulled on during the search and fix for the cause of the ASD fuse blowing.

I checked voltage at the battery.

12 volts not running after sitting 16 hours, 14.2 - 14.3 volts running at idle

The battery showed good with the load tester

The front right rotor was locking up, the rear upper control arm needs to be replaced - it is supposed to get here today.

The code has not come back.

Today we have a new issue. My wife reported that yesterday the 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD would not move if shifting from drive to reverse, But would back up if she went to park and then back to reverse.

I'd appreciate any input on the issue.
