Master Techs normally never do oil changes so there not increasing there paycheck at all by advising 3k OCI's due to there higher pay and skill is wasted on doing oil changes.
I'm a Master Tech and rarely ever do a oil change, the shop I work at looses money if I do a oil change. There are times I do oil changes but normally with other high paying jobs like intake gaskets jobs and such.
Right, but what I'm pointing out here is that Master Techs as a group, which is what you stated, reinforce the idea of 3K OCI's being necessary. While it may not be a Master Tech performing the work, the work has to be done somewhere. And of course while the customer has their car there, "free inspections" are performed to identify other work that should be performed. I'm not saying this is all bad, because sure, things are found that would otherwise be a hazard to the customer if left unrepaired.....but if these customers were extending their OCI's, and coming less frequently, then less revenue is generated on a whole.
I'm just saying, show me an independent line of research that doesn't have an ulterior motive behind it, or at least won't be in a conflict of interest when presenting said information.
