So the master/slave unit on my clutch is starting to fail. When I come out to my liberty in the morning the pedal goes 80% down before I start to feel any pressure. If I pump the clutch a few times I get full pressure again. I did some research and have found the hydraulics are all one sealed unit but in the manual it says I can check the fluid level. My question is this how do I get to the master/slave unit? The service manual doesn't really go into any detail at all. Do I attack from under the hood, or from underneath the car. Any help/experience that you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated. Also it's an 03 left hand drive 3.7l liberty Renegade. Thanks in advance

Never looked at a Lib with a clutch, but all the hydro clutches I've ever seen have a small reservoir next to the brake mastercyl.

The fluid fill/check is in the top right of the engine bay. Black cap underneath the wiring loom that runs across the top. Kinda a PITA to get to. If you do get it open to check the level watch out for the little rubber diaphragm and make sure it doesnt drop into the engine bay.

Had mine replaced last year, The part was cheap on Rockauto - Had my mechanic friend replace it and remember he had to take out the brake booster to do so.

Yeah I ordered the new unit from rockauto. I have a good idea of where its located on the car and I was hoping I wouldn't have to remove alot of other stuff to swap it but its looking like its buried underneath the brake booster as you said. I got quoted $400 from a shop but for $100 bucks for the part and 3 or 4 hours of my time I guess I'll just do it myself.
