Hi
I have a Pioneer aftermarket HU and some Infinity Reference 6 1/2" in my doors. The door speakers are powered via the head unit - not a amp.
I also have a 12" Infinity sub powered by an Infinity mono amp.

I am thinking of getting some components for the front and have the following questions:

1) Can I install the components without a amp to power them? I don't really want another amp in my car if I don't need one.
2) I will attempt the install myself and wanted to know what's the best way to run the wires from the crossover unit (which I will probably mount inside the door) to the tweeter location? Do I have to run it thru the rubber door boot and how do I do this?

If anyone has advice or pictures please share them.

Thanks
E

1) As long as the components are rated at the same power rating as your HU output they should work fine. (normally 50Wx4)
2) I would run the wires through the rubber boot otherwise the door might cause damage to the wiring.

Be advised Infinity is known to require power to make them work, b0th home and mobile speaker systems. I haev been using their stuff for close to 20 years and they have always LOVED power.
