I noticed some weeks ago, the ac quit blowing cold. Haven't used the Jeep much since I'm working on the sound system, but did need it to go get a Christmas tree. When I got home, I could hear bubbling from the engine, popped the hood and saw the reservoir tank bubbling. I checked the fan, and it doesnt seem to kick on when AC goes on, so I unplugged the harness and ran lines direct from plug to battery. One terminal kicks on right away. Other terminal never kicks on. Assumption would be a new fan, but not sure how the 3 wire fan motor works considering its one motor. Does new fan sound about right here?

Would/could this also be the issue with the AC not blowing cold? While checking things over today, I noticed the low side line freezing up from fire wall to air box. Im no AC guy, so not sure if the fan is needed for this to not happen. Thanks

Relays checked out fine, put power to them and checked resistance. Also the 40a fuse is good.

The condenser fan is supposed to come on when the ac is turned on. Unless there's sufficient airflow going through the condenser from something like steady cruising on a highway, the ac will struggle to "remove heat" from the cabin, especially if it's a hot day out. None of the lines will be particularly cold/freezing in this scenario, as the refrigerant isn't able to shed its heat, so perhaps you have something else going on based on what you described.

My Lib has the tow package, which has a 2 wire fan, so I'm not sure how the 3 wire ones work. I've heard it has a low and a high speed, though.

Ok Thanks Ksat. Ive been sick this passed week so I havent had a chance to work on it. Im hoping this weekend to pick up some antifreeze and check out the boneyard for a new fan. Id like to be lucky and find one with the tow package, I can steal the mechanical fan also.

I did notice that the "freezing" line was froze from rubber section to a bend in the pipe just near the air filter, then went luke warm. Its a newer system, less than 20k on it so it better have not failed already.
