crack in catalytic converter

I've been told that i have a crack in the front catalytic converter. Wondering if i can just take it off and weld up the crack?? Or will that just damage the inside? It sounds terrible and its driving me nuts but i don't wanna buy a new cat if it's not actually "bad" since it's just leaking

No fixing it,must replace and OE Is the best and will fit.Aftermarket junk,good luck.

The actual cat itself,if the can itself is cracked,is not fixable as the honeycomb inside will have seperated from the can.

I know the inside ceramic can't be fixed but the metal can can be welded.

Why weld? Use J.B.Weld,let it cure for 24 hours. Simple and cheap...as will be the results.

They are only $250. May as well get a new one.

A direct fit OE is alot more then that.

Well then, Jb Weld may be the best option, haha. Temporary at best.
