Hello, I'm new around here, but I've owned my Liberty since the end of 2004. I've been noticing a creaking in the front end whenever I go over large dips or things like speed bumps. The common thread seems to be road features that compress the front end quite a bit, and that do it slowly (for instance, I wouldn't hear this noise when drive up over a curb or something like that). We had replaced the front ball joints after the recall was announced (we actually had one fail prior to the recall, but the Jeep was standing still, fortunately). This noise happened prior to the replacement, and has persisted since.

I need to take it to a mechanic, but I thought it would be worth asking around to see if anyone has experienced this so I could possibly get an idea of what's going on.

Thanks!

So the noise is still there after the LBJ replacement? As many would suspect initially, swaybar bushings.

I have the same problem. I was hoping it was just a bushing or 2. If it is, silicone spray will do. I have known people to use a squirt of ATF for same thing. I am getting under mine today.

Same thing here. Soon as the puddles go away I'm lubing all I can.
