my full OME lift has been on for about 500 miles and Im just noticing this creaking sound coming from my rear (i believe)...i sprayed the control arm bushings with WD40 and the problem still persists...it sounds like an old coil spring mattress when i shake the KJ from the roof rails and i can hear it at any flex of the suspension...

anybody experience something similar? i see guys have had problems in the front with the sway bar bushings...planning on getting some silicone lube and spraying the stuff back there...could it be the isolators the coils are sitting in? or the rear sway bar?

thanks

Have you checked the y link aka upper control arm. Most the time if you crawl under it when not jacked up and have someone bounce it up and down you can isolate the noise and ID it.

I'd put money that the lower bolts that attach your y-link to your differential are loose. Lie underneath your rear diff and have someone shake the crap out of one of your rear wheels and tell me what you see.

Only possible if he had removed those before. they put loc-tite on those suckers at the factory and they are tough to get out by hand. If they were loose you'd be getting bangs and booms and all sorts of other noises.

Probably something rubber. Iso, bushings in the upper control arm. Try the latter.

The reason that I suspected the tri-link was because mine was loose and making some godawful creaking. Torqued it down this morning and the problem was gone.

ive yet the chance to look at it again.. seems to be less so after it rained yesterday so im convinced it is somethign rubber that's dried out or cracked and now sitting in a different position with the lift.. as mentioned, i sprayed the bushings in the y-link with WD but it persisted.. will have a look underneath with someone shaking it to locate the noise.. will try some silicone spray and revert back here

I have the same noise that I believe you are talking about..
It started about a week after the dealership replaced my rear LCA under the recall.
Someone suggested that when they the LCAs they put extra stress on the upper Y-link, which could cause a end that was starting to go bad, get worse and that was where the sound is coming from.

Of course when I when to take it back to ask them about it, it was raining, and the sound was gone..

i never thought of that but i did have those replaced under the recall about a month ago.. been busy and still haven't had a chance to get underneath but i bet you're spot on.. only thing is whether the dealership buys it as i put my lift on after the LCA's were replaced by them..

Im not sure exactly what you mean.. how is replacing the LCA's putting extra stress on the upper y-link causing one of the bushings to go bad?

so I think I have located the issue.. its coming from the bushings within the LCA's where they attach to the rear axle.. called the dealer and they said they'd be happy to take a look but if they found nothing wrong it'd be $118/hr labor :( have got to be kidding
