Lately I've been hearing a creaking or metal bending sounding noise in my engine compartment.
This is not suspension related as I can hear it as soon as I start up with the Jeep never been moved and sitting at idle. The video above tries to capture it but it sounds like a single click in that video instead of the c-c-c-click

Anyone ever experienced this?

This turned out to be the A/C compressor.
The sound has gotten progressively worse.
But when I turn the A/C off the sound instantly goes away.

What is the clearance gap behind the a/c clutch plate?

You can remove the clutch plate....look at the backside, and check for damage. Replacement clutch plates cost around $35

Is there a youtube or pdf that gives instructions on how to measure this?

The sound was my water pump
it decided to completely go out on my on a ride home from my land a good 225 miles from home. I was halfway home in the middle of nowhere in complete darkness
Limped it to the nearest town to an Advanced Auto
30 minutes before they closed
luckily they had everything I needed in stock
took me 3 hours to replace it in their parking lot
But then I needed a jump because the belt had snapped and I was running on pure battery power for about 50 miles

This happened back in October I thought I'd come update this story

this may sound funny..
but anytime i have strange noise from my motor, i get a peice of clear plastic tube, one end in my ear, and other end i move around the engine bay or part, easy to tell which part actually makes the noise...
