A few months ago, I noticed that my side marker peanut bulb in the front drivers side bulb was burnt, so I replaced it. However, I noticed today that the harness has some charring on it and that when I turn the parking lights on that bulb does not turn on.

When I press the breaks or turn my turn signal on, it comes on. Any ideas what might be going on?

First make sure that the charring has not come from the wiring fraying anywhere.

Weird problems like other lights turning on when pressing brakes are often caused by bad grounds. Take a length of wire and fasten one end to a clean chassis point and connect the other end to the ground section of the peanut bulb and see what happens.:icon_confused:

Common problem. Cut and replace the light socket. Most auto parts stores will have replacement sockets...

^^ That.

Only you don't have to cut it. It unplugs. I just did this with mine a couple of weeks ago because the short was also affecting my rear marker lights. I replaced both sockets up front with new ($5/ea. from the dealer, as the local parts place was out). Problem solved.
