I was in to get tires today and was shown that the drivers side front bearing was loose. The quoted price for the part is $600 plus $100 labor. Can it be done cheaper?

Around $250 for the hub assy is an average price. Not sure on the labor charge, but I reckon your tire shop must be owned by a couple of guys called Ben Doon and Phil Mckraken

Haha, yeah I'm noticing that. I just starting pricing them myself and am seeing how much cheaper it would be to go it alone. The only thing I'm a little worried about is getting a hub puller. Can I rent one of those from AutoZone?

I obviously haven't removed the UBJ and LBJ on this Jeep yet myself, but in my Buick when I did this it was really easy to accidentally tear boots up if you didn't use a puller of some sort. I have less to fear in the Jeep's case I take it?
