Hi folks, after things got a bit colder here im finding my e-brake light coming on somewhat randomly

at first it was on when the vehicle was started, more recently now it seems to flash on for a while after releasing the brake, after stopping

I've checked for brake fluid leaks and cant see anything going on like that, it seems to only flash on for a few seconds most of the time

im talking about the red exclamation light in the dash to be clear

The "e-brake" or "Handbrake: has a small contact up near the Lever....at least that is how it works on my 2002 Export CRD.

You have to remove the console surrounding the Handbrake Lever to locate the switch.;)

Here is an image of Park Brake Switch.
Each time the cluster detects ground on the park brake switch sense circuit, the brake indicator should be illuminated.
The switch can be found at rock Auto, not expensive.
Check to make sure the switch is making proper contact, clean with no rust.

Make sure the fluid level is topped off. This was happening with my KK and solved the issue.
this turned out to be it, I was a fair bit above min but it was triggering the light once the engine was on, not sure how it got lower, hopefully its just bulging lines somewhere

Glad to hear that it’s fixed. Could be a little low from pad wear? The system seems sensitive for sure. Hopefully no a bulging line….
