Hi,

I have a 2006 Jeep liberty sport 4x4. She's got a 4 inch lift, 32's and a mother nature designed front bumber. I do A LOT of mudding and have noticed that the stock electric fan goes out quite a bit, and doesn't take a lot to kill it. I used to have an older model pickup an it had the older style crankcase fan on it.

My question is: can I replace the stock factory electric fan with an older style crankcase fan? and if so, is there anything special I need. (for ex: bolts, specialty tools?)

Thank you,

ALABAMA 4x4!!:driver:

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
Stay out of the mud and keep the radiator, condensor, and electric fan clean.

The mechanical fan in the HD cooling is the AUX cooling fan in teh system with the electric fan as the primary cooling fan.The mechanicasl fan does not fully engage till 230 degrees which is overheating on the 3.7,the electric fan engages at 219-221 degrees.

^^ What this man Says.

After many a "muddin" trips, my jeep eventually started to overheat on the trails. Mud covered radiators are useless radiators. Also, the stock factory fan was quick to go. I installed a very beefy electric fan and hose down the system as much as I can, and mud trips are happening MUCH less.....but didn't say gone :rockit:
