Engine code key method not working (2006 sport)

For some reason, on my '02, the key trick only works if there is a code. If there is nothing wrong it will not even say DONE...nothing happens.

Precisely! If there are no codes it just goes to the odometer reading.I just cleared a couple codes and did the key thingy and was looking for the "DONE" but it never showed up.I thought I was doing it wrong so I tried it a couple of times.It does work nicely when there are codes.
