Hi All,

I have just got an EVIC to fit to my 07 Sport upgrade (Factory leather) and would like some clarity on the TPMS saga.

I Have Temp, AVG Fuel, Compass, Distance to empty, Time Etc and can also access some other settings.

On the down side No TPMS. I have been doing a lot of research on this and I believe it can be narrowed done to two possibilities.

Keep in mind the EVICS for 06-07's are dumb terminals - they only display what they are told by the BCM.

I do have the tire pressure warning light as most later model sports do.

Ok so why no TPMS - the EVIC is compatible for sure - it came from a 06 limited from the which im sure did have TPMS!

Here my assumptions from what I have read so far.

1) My Sport physically does not have the proper components or electronics installed. It may be I need a Limited BCM or different wheel sensors or both - I am not sure at this point and any help in answering this would be appreciated. I would be very interested to know however if the tire pressure senor part numbers are the same on the limiteds and sports on the Export models - can someone find this out?? My 07 Sport is this upgrade with the leather and stacker etc.

2) The setting in the BCM to display PSI tire pressure is not switched on. If this is the case all I need is to get in there with and enhanced scan tool and fool around a little and switch it on - or I could just take it to the dealer and ask them to do it! This would be the preferred option.

I also noticed that in the to upgrade to a TPMS it only costs like $70.00 Extra from when you buy it new. This has got me thinking it may be as simple as changing a setting in the BCM.

All in all, its going to cost me lots of money to get the proper gear Or, its just a BCM setting.

I know the older models where different, however I just want to focus on the 06 and 07's here, whats the true story on getting the TPMS working.

By TPMS - I mean tire pressure monitoring system that displays the individual tyre pressures.

If anyone knows for sure, please let us know.

Also some latest EVIC numbers and their features would be great.

Thanks!

I can't be sure but I think that if the donor EVIC's vehicle didn't have TMPS it won't show when you put it in yours. I don't have EVIC or TMPS so this is just me trying to remember from past posts.

Evic

I installed at 2004 EVIC in my 2004 Liberty. I'm not sure what's changed in the 2007 version. My Liberty is a Rocky Mountain Edition, essentially a Sport with a nice trim package. My EVIC is TPMS compatible, I wish it wasn't. I didn't know it was when I bought it, but after I installed it, I got the error 'Tire pressure sensor bad/missing' on startup and sometimes randomly while driving. So I had the dealership install the tire pressure sensors, one per wheel, including the spare, 5 total. It cost $150 parts and labor to install the sensors.

When my pressure is low/high I get an error on my EVIC console and on my dash. I would imagine if you're getting the light on your dash, you have to have some type of sensor. You should be able to tell if you have senors installed in your wheels by looking at the valve stems. Metal valve stems mean the sensors are there, rubberized ones means you don't have them.

So you installed the EVIC, it didn't come on your Jeep from the factory? Does it tell you your sensors are bad/missing? Does it have a screen to display tire pressures for 4 tires?

I was thinking (I could be mistaken) that everything 2005+ was TPMS compatible, federally mandated.

Maybe the way its routed through the BCM has changed.

Question...
i have a 2002 Limited, it has an EVIC but no TPMS, if i get a newer EVIC let's say an 05-07 EVIC with the sensors, would it work on my Liby?

It's been a LONG time since I installed my EVIC, but if memory serves...02-03 are compatible, in an 04 you have to install an 04, 05-06 are compatible and I'm not sure about 07.

By compatible I mean 100% functioning, i.e. the temperature read out.

I would also recommend getting an EVIC from a Liberty. I think some EVIC's from other models, like Grand Cherokees, may work. But in my 04, I had to have an 04 EVIC from an 04 Liberty.
