Well after a lot of different Ideas and a purchase of a 06 crd liberty with the intent to do an engine swap in my 04 3.7. I ran into the small snag that I couldn't bring my self to do . Long story short I kept the 06 crd as a complete unit and fought through the transmission issues. And left my self with my original issue of an engine to go back into my 04. And since I can't seem to not fix the parts bucket and put them back on the road. I have decided to take a misfortunate issue of the slk 230 that I had loaned out that came back totaled and make it my doaner engine since it's a complete car with all the components wiring harness distribution box computer everything I need to make the engine operation on functional.

Now here's my question that I'm sure I can figure out but how much problem am I going to have adapting the engine to the drive train or will it just bolt up I hadn't looked into it this far. And I'm just now researching my problem area to prepare for the swap. Because I've decided one way or the other it's going in there. Does anybody have any insight. Or useful knowledge of the issues I'm fixing to cause myself any help would be appreciated any thoughts are accepted. That's the goal 3.7 l v6 to a M111.973 2.3 L.. let see what The general opinion is and what controversy may arise.

This sounds interesting!

I think a manual gearbox would be easier unless a stand alone gearbox controller is available? Or is your plan to put the full Mercedes engine and box in and adapt it to the transfer box?

Motor mounts and cooling/various lines may be your biggest issues. Which transmission will you be using? Manual? That will likely be the easiest way. Drive shafts might need to be customized. You will then need to make sure the pcm-ecm don't require any communication from a tcm or bcm if applicable. Those older mercedes were surprisingly sophisticated in their set up for the time. I'm hoping it will be a supercharged variant of the engine, or else you may run into a sluggish vehicle. There are likely many more issues that you will run into, but you would address them as they come up.

That's a good question I'm not sure. But I'm hoping that the engine mounting plates are identical because this is kind of what I've researched a little bit and found.
Common vehicles for W5A330: Some earlier models of Chrysler 300, Dodge Avenger, Jeep Liberty.

It's a 2000 model SLK I'll be pulling everything out of and at this point it looks like the model W5A 330 and W5A 580 we're used in both Jeep and Mercedes and various other Dodges so with any luck it'll be easy to adapt to tell housing over to either the transfer case already have or not the engine straight to the transmission that's already jeep party has. I'll have to get into both of them to figure out what I've got and what I want to work with I think I would prefer the Mercedes transmission adapted to the transfer case but I'm not 100% sure on that yet and yes it is supercharged
