After I lifted my jeep I noticed my engine skid and gas tank skid seemed to be much more visible. They of course have always been nasty and starting to look kind of grungy. As a result I decided to paint them! While taking them off I also decided to paint my rock rails and roof rails to match. I went with Rustoleum Oil Based paint "Aluminum" in color. I sanded them all down with some 60 grit then resanded them with 100 grit. Except the rails I continued with 220 grit on them since the metal is thinner. I then hung everything in my homemade paint booth in my shop and used my spray gun to apply the paint. I did 5 decently thick and and even coats on everything and once cured it turned out very well I thought! Here are some before during and after pics!
After taking the rock rails off I actually decided I liked it better with out them! It made it look higher with more distance under the rocker pannel. So I think I may be selling my factory Mopar rock rails if anyone is interested! They're freshly painted and had no rust before painting! They just looked kind of dingy. I don't have any pics of them freshly painted because I never installed them so they're still hanging in my shop.
Also you can see here that I painted my rear axle with some Rustoleum Oil Base Gloss Black to give it a littlebit better look!
