Steve, I've got the OME790 (CRD springish springs). They fit like a glove. No mod to shock mounting plates, spring perches or isolators. They are a considerably heavier spring rate (500 (?) lbs) over the gasser (310lbs) and will certainly lift your KJ's chin up a bit.

Thanks Ian,
Are the OME 790 a direct replacement for the stock CRD springs then? i.e. Same spring rate? Or are they a harder rate than the stock CRD springs? I am just thinking a 500LB spring instead of just over 300LB spring will have my Jeep bouncing all over the road instead of compressing the spring! Hehe. And just to clarify, will any of the OME springs work with stock shock absorbers or will I have to replace the shock absorbers as well? (Trying to keep costs down) Thanks for your patience Guys. Stock CRD front coils are 410lbs.If you put on 300lbs coils you will actually be lowering your KJ.Adding the OME 927's(400lbs) you will sag after a short time. You will however get a nice firm(not harsh) ride with the OME 790's if installing them on a CRD or very heavy gasser(ARB bumper and winch and full armor).

Thanks TJ. My Jeep is just the 2.4 petrol and I am a bit concerned the ride will be too harsh. I am going round in circles here and struggling to find an OME distributor over here in ****** Blighty so I am thinking about just getting some stock CRD springs and put them in my 2.4 Petrol and hope for the best!! Do you think that will lift it a bit over stock?

Steve, considering the difference in spring rates between stock petrol and stock diesel, one can safely surmise that the stock CRD springs will boost the front end up. But then, anything must be an improvement over what you are currently riding on.

1) From what I've read and seen, all the parts have been revised to keep the Jeep at the after lowered height. This was due to safety concerns after a single rollover on a 2002 2WD in a controversial type of test. As for how, I'm guessing they just lowered the spring stack by an inch or so.

2) With the mileage you are at, you are sagging at least 1" due to worn out springs.

3) As the final results do vary, I would look at the official "how high are you" thread http://www.jeepkj.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39094

Thanks osufan. Exactly the ansewrs I was looking for. I priced new OEM shi=ock?Springs and it's not much different than the OME?Blisten lift option. So I may just go ahead and lift it right away. Only problem is that it's getting a bit chilly up here, and my garage is small and unheated

Then you better order them fast! :)

I did mine in the course of two afternoons. Started unbolting and did the fronts on Saturday (which this is by far the hardest to do,) then finished up the rears on Sunday. You'll need to rent a coil-spring compressor to do the swap, or have a nearby shop who can swap them for you.

You'll also want to get new bump-stops for the front (Terra-Flex) and then get some hockey pucks (two per side) for the rear. You'll need to drill a hole in the base plate of the rear, and just bolt the hockey pucks to the base plate.

Have fun and enjoy!

I may have to put it off till next spring or have alocal shop do it.:disgust:

I'm working 10-12 hr days. And this saturday is the gun-deer opener here. Next two weekends after that I'll be out of town.

Still putting the recipe and prices together. Is JBA the best value for the parts?

I think I ordered my coils and front bump-stops from JBA, but I ordered my shocks from XLoffroad.com (they still had the rancho's available at the time.)

Thanks Ian,
After a lot of being messed about by crap UK shops, I have decided to fit new factory diesel springs and some of Boilers shims if he will ship them over to the UK. I was thinking the same way as you with regard to "anything will be an improvement on what is on there at the moment", but wanted an OME lift really but they want some silly money for them over here so decided to go the cheaper route and save the money to get a lift kit put on my next Jeep. Will let you know what stock CRD springs and shims do to a 2.4 petrol!!
Thanx to all of you for all your help. I know what I need for the next one now!

Cheers,
Steve :smokin:
