Garage Air Compressor

Looking for an inexpensive air compressor for my garage. Don't really need specific brand/model advice, just what to look for in general terms. I am not likely to start collecting a bunch of air-powered tools or anything, just something for inflating tires and blowing dust off of stuff. I have a portable air compressor so this would be more like a tank compressor to keep in the garage.

Any advice?

Some of the HFs are good for what you need ,
smaller, more portable,
can mount one up on a shelf on the wall.
Then with hose reel and 50 foot of hose would be able to reach anywhere

these are both pancake style , small but do a good job

also snoop your local home depot, lowes, tractors supply, any other place that sells compressors. look for clearance/floor models that might be on sale.

^^^This. Can also check marketplace and Craigslist. I have one equal to the one above, bought used off Craigslist about 10 years ago and still goes strong.

Works wonders for whatever I use it for. Air tools, tires, wood working, etc.
Dual port with built in regulator, super quiet motor (Hold a conversation while its running) dual pump, oil less, etc.

I found the same one at Harbor Freight as I got at Home Depot, Porter Cable. They both had the same price. $99.

150 psi, 6 gallon.
Nice and portable.

seems to me 60 gallon etc tanks is a bit overkill for small jobs like that

air compressors are like crack. if you've never had one, one you get one, you're going to want more.
just go bigger now and be done with it.

I saw that, I can read but if he is only going to air up tires, blow things off a big one is still a waste

When I was using all air tools I had a standup 60 gallon etc that would keep up running two air sanders for hours and they suck air
Now that the air tools are all but forgotten about, all rechargeable tools now, less noise, work just as well, a pancake does all that I need one to do.
Don't need the biggest and baddest just to say I have one

I’ve had a ~25 gallon 110v portable stand up for about 25 years now. Came from the Depot with an assortment of air tools included. Tools are long gone, but compressor handles everything I need, including running a motorcycle lift. It’ll handle my brutal 500 lb ft impact gun.

I have a 2 stage 20 gallon one. Works good, but for air impacts it runs out of steam. Pretty much gets used for winterizing the sprinklers every fall now. Airing up tires I just go to the gas station, theirs are free and have the digital gauge on them, easier than dealing with the air hose. The new electric impacts are much better anyway, love my Dewalt XR one.

I have a small craftsman air compresser that fits under the bench. Free from a neighbor. I've plumbed most of my shop so I can blow chips and dust. Future plan is to plumb the rest of the shop under the bench with an outlet at every leg but there's wall work to be done first. Only good for 125 psi but that's fine. It runs my air wrench for rusty take-aparts. I don't use it for lug nuts unless they're super tight. I tighten them by hand so I can get them loose by the side of the road.

I carry a large breaker bar in my car with socket so I can take my or anyone else's tires off if needed.
