Gear oil change?

I recently swapped to 4.10 gears (used set) and was wondering if i should change the oil after a certain number of miles. The gearset was used, but I imagine it is wearing into a new spot so some metal in the oil wouldn't be too unusual?

What are your thoughts.

I always do about a 250 mile/500 mile, then 1500 etc on new gears
never installed used ones

as you stated; Your wear pattern will not be the same as the previous install.

Why would you NOT change the gear oil? Gear lube is relatively inexpensive and easy to change.
