When I do the .7v to .5v upgrade do I need to replace the harness as well or just the module?

Just the module...make sure you do not connect the new 5 volt glow plugs up electrically to the glow-plug module before the Dealers have programmed the ECM.

In other words you can install the new plugs and module but leave them disconnected and drive to the Dealer and let them finish the job off.

Or buy the metal 7 volt glow plugs from the Italian firm Etechno so you do not need a new controller or re-programming....go to Lost to see the reviews on the Italian 7 volt plugs.

re

I live in MN so the guy from Green Diesel Engineering told me to get the .5v because they heat up faster. Is it worth the extra $200 ($50 for the part and 1.5 hours labor) to do it? I was going to do the green diesel upgrade but work has been slow so I'd rather not if I don't have to. I'm just afraid I'm going to come out of the grocery store when it's -40 and not be able to start it.

I ran the Etechno 7v metal ones here in Iowa last winter. Record breaking cold last year. No problem at all with the 7v plugs.

If you look at Lost you will see that there have been a few quality issues with the Etechno metal plugs...faulty ones are replaced with no questions asked and hopefully they have sorted out their production issues by now!
