So I called all 3 of the local jeep dealers in my area to schedule an Appt to get my speedo redone only to be told "We can’t change the tire size in the computer. That feature is only available on the Wranglers.." WTF?!?!?!

I know it can be done because some of you had it completed. My question is a two part one... Does anyone know the step-by-step procedure to do this? I would like to be able to print this out and take it to one of the dealers to prove them wrong... Or does anyone know a Jeep dealer in the DC area that is capable of doing this???

Something tells me that since yours is an '07, it isn't possible to change the pinion angle in the computer.....mine is an '04 and the dealer had no problems doing it.

Don't know about '07s. '02-4 it's doable, and '05 too, but '06-7 ThunderbirdJunkie does not know. He has read that you can do that on the '06-7, but cannot say for certain

I bought my junk used, but my speedo is 100% correct according to photo radar and gps. I am assuming it was done. Also it's an '06.

It is not possible on an 07 to recalibrate the speedo, with the exception of a couple of stock sizes. It has been this way with all Chrysler products since about 2006.

We used to have a very easy system to update the revolutions per mile, so almost any tire size could be programmed.

From what I understand, the EPA has been harping on the manufacturers about this because the EPA states that when the MPG and emissions are calculated, they are done with a set gear ratio, tire size, etc.

They say that when oversize tires are added, this can change the MPG and the emissions output of the engine, blah, blah, blah. It is a bunch of BS, but we no longer have the ability to program for oversized tires.

I couldn't do it on my 08 KK, and my speedo is about 2-3 mph off now. Ohg well, life goes on.:D

Thanks for the info Idaho. Now a new question... What are the stock sizes that can be programmed?

WHOOOOOOOA WAIT
You mean to tell us no dealer can do it on anything anymore? Or you just can't do it on the later models because the EPA is dumb?

Yeah, like I said, 2006 and older, you pretty much have an unlimited amount of adjustment for the speedo. You just program the revolutions per mile for your tire size into the ABS module, along with your diff gear ratio.

Can't do the diff gear ratio's,I now that for a fact for a '02 KJ.It's only rev's per mile that can be imputed.Took some crazy math to get my speedo correct with 265/75's and 4.10's.

To the OP
get a GPS and compare it to your speed-o
probably going to be very close ,ours was
I think it was a linear error to the tune of 6% or so
doing 70 was like 73+

******* Update *********

I found a fourth dealer in my area. Called them and told them what I wanted and they said we can do the update for you. I have an appt on Thursday and will let everyone know the outcome.
