Grille Mesh Mod Question...

so i feel a bit inadequate since i cannot complete this simple modification....
but when i put the inserts between the two grilles, it wont snap back together...
are the inserts supposed to be the exact size of the front grille openings and not wrap down the back side?

Make them slightly larger than the openings and squeeze them into place with thr grill backbone

I used a solid piece 12x30 ish and sandwiched it took 5 minutes total
