From what I can gather:
stock oil burner fronts are 410lb and H&R 520lb
stock rears are 150lb and H&R 200lb

Where did you get that information from ? They are a bit stiffer than stock but not a lot… mine ride great. I have messed with the rear by adding spring assist shocks Monroe ? A part number I got from this forum. When I loaded the back for a trip the rear would squat. Approx 200 lbs of cargo plus 2-3 teenage kids in the back seat. Solved now but definitely affected ride quality. FYI I run two hockey pucks in the rear for bump stops and the terraflex units in the front. Coming up on two years now still don’t regret this setup. This vehicle as a whole has gone places I’d never have expected.

Thanks read that now. Standard yellow Bilstein in the front. Seems to be holding up quite well. Previously KYB gas-a-adjust in the rear. They rode well. Just wanted some extra weight carrying capacity with the Monroe. My setup is modified, I run a CNC cut spacer plate for the top of the shock mount (3/8” identical to the “boiler plates”) as well as a spacer ring in with the front springs (1/4” this was present when I removed the OEM springs, have no idea how it got in there) In the rear I CNC cut a 3/4” spring spacer between two upper isolators. I also have a CNC wishbone/ball joint extension in the rear to extend the diff mount. All in all about 21.75-22” hub to fender. Rides well and about as far as I am willing to go with this setup.

I assure you there was a few cardboard templates made and many test fits to get it right. But yes the idea is not original. Somebody on a FB group had a photo of one they cut out by hand. I knew JBA made one but couldn’t find any photos online.

I have two sets of the JBA ones in the junk drawer that we used on customers and removed when they updated
Never hurts to ask ya know LOL

@WheelNut do you get any coil contact with the upper control arm on these H&R springs? I have a set sitting in the garage but I’m having second thoughts about installing them because I don’t want to open a can of worms with needing after market UCAs.
World's slowest replay here, but no there is no issue with the coil contacting the upper arm.

I contacted H&R technical team regarding spring rates, below is the reply:
Thank you for your e-mail.
Presumed, the springs you have are marked with “29203”:

Single front spring

Weight: 4,4 kg

Spring rate: 91 N/mm

Single rear spring:

Weight: 4,1 kg

Spring rate: 36 N/mm
I knew these H&Rs felt stiff! Makes sense though. There are three ways to get more height 1. Stiffer springs of the same length. 2. Longer springs, same rate. 3. Move the upper mounting point down/away from the body. The last two might cause coil bind depending on the spring and mounting dimensions. H&R has obviously elected to go with stiffer and the same length.

I'd much prefer a longer spring to achieve lift (gain travel), but to do that would require a longer strut as well. The strut (shock I know!) acts as the limiter so the only way to achieve is by stiffer spring.

I'm running the CRD springs on my gasser up front to counter balance the weight of a steel cable winch and bracket, but using gas light spring in back. Unless you want to start adding spacers to the 927s up front to balance the stance out, I'd recommend sticking with the light rears. It also rides really nice with this setup.

KYB's are on offer on autodoc at the moment so I've ordered some, £39 + delivery for fronts seems too cheap to miss out... I'll see what gets delivered!

My front KYBs are holding up very well. My rears lasted less than 1500 miles and gave up. Now replaced with B6 Bilsteins.
