I had ordered an installer tool for the harmonic balancer, but it seems the parts it comes with for jeeps do not work on the 2003 2.4L, due to the threads on the crank shaft starting down inside a bit, instead of at the face. I found the "official" tool, but it's $100 when you take into account tax and shipping. Best I can tell, it's a long M12x1.75 bolt, with a flange nut and a thrust bearing. I don't need the cup since I didn't pull off the timing belt sprocket. Curious if anyone else has experience with doing it on the 2.4L engines, and if I am wrong in thinking I can piece it together cheaper.

Looks like something I'd make if I was doing it.

Depending where you are located -

A loaner / rental from advance, autozone, oreilly, etc? Or a tool rental store like american rent all
