Vehicle is an 05 KJ Renegade. 3.7l v6, 6spd manual, 4wd. Just did a head gasket job a couple months ago, surfaced the heads, replaced timing set, lifters, etc. Runs great, except...

Every now and then, if I'm coasting (in neutral, off the gas) to a light or whatever, it will drop from whatever RPM I was at, to roughly 300rpm and die. I usually just blip the clutch in 2nd to relight it, but shouldn't have to.

Only code is for the passengers side catalyst.

No other issues whatsoever. No overheating, nothing. Ideas?

I did put in El cheapo coils on 4 and 6 in the process of the above (having soaked/cooked the prior coils due to the shit placement of the reservoir), but I would think if that was the issue I'd be getting misfires. Not at all.

Thinking a long the lines of the crank sensor and/or O2 sensor (was a code for the latter).

Used to have some funny things going on with low idle and occasion hard start. After changing those sensors, never came back.

Thanks, will forward that info to my son. The crank sensor, do you mean camshaft sensor? On PS bank about the level of the sprocket?

EDIT disregard the above. Super easy...

Dirty/sticky idle air control valve will do this.
Mine went a couple months ago, it would die just as I would come to a stop at a light. Not every time, but it got more and more frequent as the weeks went on. Changed the IAC because it didnt look that dirty and hasn't happened again since then.
