My understanding was that, and this may be for later models, the two fans were part of the "tow package" for greater cooling when towing, along with a trans feature and a hitch, I guess. Maybe some other features, too.
I have a Honda car, Civic and a Honda Rancher 420 atv and both have electric fans that some on only when they start getting warm. For the Civic it's summer time and/or running a/c and atv when it gets warm out (summer time, or hill climbing). Then the fan comes on.
Maybe they run hotter or cooler.
The Jeep sure runs lower rpms. The Civic will be 3000 rpms at just over 70 mph. The Jeep (3.7) runs under 2000 rpms at 70 mph. Unless the gauge is wrong.
