Headlight glass interior marked/dirty - how to clean?

I have a 2003 Liberty KJ (actually as I live in France it is a Cherokee Sport) 2.8 CRD, and the interior of both the headlamps is cloudy and marked.
When I looked into replacing them the price of each headlamp is nearly €500, presumably because the description says the headlamps movement up/down are electrically controlled.

Has anyone had experience of taking the units apart to clean the interior of the glass?

All ideas gratefully received.

Easy. Take the headlights out heat the edges up, use a flat pry tool to pry the outer lens off
