Headlight Upgrade

I'm thinking about upgrading my headlights to those ultra violet or "blue" headlights. What's the best brand to use?

No that's not what I meant. Our housings are not designed for HID lights and to my knowledge every attempt at an actual retrofit has turned out pretty horrible looking. The plug and play ballast ones are even worse.

Silverstars, etc are about the only thing you can do. The stock headlights, providing they are aimed correctly, haven't had any of that gawdawful tint spray put on them, or hazed over, work very well. If one has problems seeing at night with them, they would need their eyes checked for night blindness in all seriousness. HID bulbs are illegal to use in the KJ and KK because they did not come with them originally. See DOT regulations regarding lighting. Those hyper uber dooper blue bulbs do not increase light output, just make you look ricey. Natural light to white gives you the best light as that parks it right in the middle of what the human eye can see. The stuper blue and violet lights are on the fringe of what the human eye can actually see, so you end up losing more than you gained.

It's a great example of HID retrofit ( so far)! Though it is expensive.

Personally , I am gonna do this upgrade to my 03 limited. Just because I don't like quality / clarity of light in my liberty.

But Over All, DO YOUR RESEARCH ON EVERYTHING U WANNA DO B4 U DO IT !

Yeah that build posted above. Like I said, so far all attempts to retrofit have come out god awful looking. Above link being a prime example of why not to do a retrofit.

I'd just stick to a set of Hella bulbs or something and use the money on some LED spotlights or a bar.

I don't think people realize, headlights on road are not meant to light everything up like it is daylight outside. I don't know what you kids would do back in the sealed beam days.

The first rule about headlights is "There IS NO DOT approved HID Kit in existence." The second rule about headlights is "There IS NO DOT approved HID Kit in existence." The third rule about headlights is "HID's do not go in Halogen Housings." There are people who are arrogant and think they are not doing harm when they do that crap. Halogen units can only handle 1200 lumens, HID's are 2100 lumens castor shields do not help why because Halogen is 1200 lumens, HID's are 2100 lumens, get the point?

Silver Star XFE bulbs, in our headlights work very well. I have a car with 6000k hid's in a proper projector lens, and the XFE's for a halogen bulb are comparable.

The high beam headlight on the drivers side is out on our 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD.
wHAT ARE THE BEST HEADLIGHTS TO BUY FOR PERFORMANCE AND LONGEVITY?
I bought a Sylvania today and then read that they only last about a year.
Is there a plug and play harness to have the dims on with the brights?
Any lighting suggestions or links to threads would be appreciated.

Joe it would be nice if you would add your year as in 2002 KJ to your posts,
at top of page while logged in you can use the USER CP and add it to your signature line.
Then it shows up in all your posts.
Ok so you have a 2002 do you also have fog lights as well?
For the regular bulbs in headlights, I used PIAA extreme white plus bulbs.
Are they ever bright ! They will last a very long time even off road as well.
For the fog lights I did the mod where you cut a small portion of a tab off and install (f-150 high beam) 9005 ST (silverstar) bulbs. Now we are talking light!
With the PIAA bulbs and high beam Silver star's in the fogs, I never need to use high beams. Never get flashed by other driver's either..nice!
To cut the tab I had an old sharp knife that I heated with a propane torch attachment and melted the cut perfectly.

The PIAA headlight bulbs illuminate distant road signs like there is no tomorrow.
Throw the modded fog lights on... and it is a complete dream.

I run Nighthawk Platinums, much cleaner and clearer than Silver Stars and they don't have the ''blue'' tint to them on the bulb except for a tiny ring at the end. You're right maximum bulb temp should be 4100K which is as close to natural sunlight you can get for visibility at night. Blue bulbs look cool but they're worthless in the city especially when it rains, I ran various bulb temps when I had my Focus including an HID partial retrofit to show people how stupid that is, unless its factory don't mess with it. Despite what the packaging ever says on an HID retrofit THERE IS NO DOT LEGAL HID SET UP FOR AFTERMARKET.

What kind of flash lights I think Mag Leds give off the best light more like daylight IMO. LOL.
